The Maison

The Via Solferino atelier workroom: linen rolls and a swatch book by the window

Fabric & Form was founded in 2014 by Costanza Ferri, after fifteen years cutting for the couture houses of Paris and Rome. The premise was unfashionably simple: make fewer garments, better, for people who keep things.

The atelier occupies the piano nobile of a former silk warehouse on Via Solferino. Nine people work there — two pattern makers, four seamstresses, an embroiderer, a furrier who has retired twice, and Costanza. Every garment leaves the building signed by its maker.

We show twice a year, by appointment, to a list of under two hundred clients. There is no e-commerce, no wholesale, no discounting. What is not sold within the season is archived and re-shown the following year at the same price — a policy our accountant describes as “a choice.”
